Proud Moment
Armadillo’s Indoor Outdoor Collection Brand Ambassador
Honoured and proud to be Brand Ambassador of Armadillo’s new Indoor Outdoor Collection and take part in their ‘The Masters’ video series. When I started Adam Robinson Design, I found that there was a little bit of a hole in the market where designers weren’t taking a holistic approach to landscape design. There were a lot of structural and hard, built-up elements within the space, but it was that softer styling like the rugs and the furniture and the clusters of pots which really bring the lifestyle, softer feel into a home. I love to use Armadillo & Co Indoor Outdoor rugs in my projects, because I love the aesthetic as well as the durability. They are made from 100% recycled plastic bottles (PET), which is completely aligned with my green philosophy.
“We are extremely excited to collaborate with Adam and have so much admiration for his work as a landscape designer and stylist. His aesthetic and urban design solutions are the perfect fit to take our Indoor Outdoor rugs to exterior environments.” Jodie Fried, Co-Founder Armadillo & Co
The Collection
A trio of new rugs from Armadillo & Co attests to the fact that beautiful can also be practical.
The Horizon, Tide and Quill weaves are the latest additions to the company’s Indoor Outdoor Collection of hardwearing, multipurpose rugs.
Hand woven from 100% recycled polyester fibres (PET) and reflecting the company’s signature design aesthetic and love of texture, they can move from poolside to dining alfresco areas with ease. Although the rugs look and feel like wool, they have exceptional durability and stain resistance; cleaning is just a quick hose down.
Brand co-founders Jodie Fried and Sally Pottharst took their inspiration from the environment, both living and non-living, to create the designs and choose the colour palette.
“In India where our rugs are hand woven, the mountains are places of immense spiritual importance and beauty,” says Jodie. “We also feel that connection, partly because our ethical rug manufacture supports many of the local people and communities.”
Continues Sally, “This collection is an exploration of the outdoors, from the landscapes to the elements, which meshes well with the intended environments for the rugs.”
The designs are elegant in their restraint and colour palettes. Horizon brings a calming element to any area with its Soumak weave mimicking a simple knitted stitch. Tide alternates vertical lines in similar shades to provide discreet patterning and additional textural interest; this is amplified by contrasting colours in Tide’s darker colourway. As its name suggests, Quill’s design echoes the horizontal lines of feathers. Again, the complementary and contrasting colourways each bring a different energy to their surroundings.
The neutral colours are ideal for contemporary outdoor settings, comprising greys, soft creams and black. A selection of marled colours – Glacier, Mineral, Fog, Basalt – brings an additional depth of colour to the weaves.
