Luxury Bungalow
Rose Bay Landscape Design Project
To maximise your lifestyle, you need to create a vibrant and lively garden through design and innovation. In the ‘before’ pic you’ll see a 1970’s style house with hard architectural lines, fairly closed off to the garden that is set on the foreshore of Rose Bay. We transformed this house into a ‘Seaside Bungalow’ through our design treatment of the exterior.
We had a lovely client who trusted us and gave us complete creative control over the exterior design. We had the house repainted, added weatherboard cladding and installed the new deck that stretches out from the interior of the ground level, now that the low wall of the verandah has been removed.
It’s now a luxuriously open space that flows from within the house to a lovely undercover conversation sitting area down wide steps the same length as the deck. These steps will double as seating when entertaining many people. The style of furniture is slick and contemporary to contrast and add interest to the new coastal vibe of the house.
A pool didn’t quite fit with this garden, so we created a formed concrete splash pool for cooling, resort-style aesthetics but also to dip and wade feet through on hot Summer days.
Large palm trees were craned in to add to the seaside, tropical feel with the placement purposely kept casual and a little random, as if they’d always been growing in that spot for years. The tightly clipped hedge acts as a strong boundary line and the rest of the planting scheme is soft and textural, rustling softly as they catch the harbour side breezes.
Two large awnings were installed to provide protection from the northern sun and they also add charm and character to the newly assigned vernacular of this much more relaxed home.
